Yorkshire Premier League North Championship Central

Drax I 228-9, Selby I 229-5

Selby first team continued their winning run on Saturday with a five wicket win at local rivals Drax which lifts them up to fourth in the table.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first and the lost opener Ben Salter with the score on 23 when he was bowled by Tom Shepherd (2-53). Jamie Middleton once again bowled accurately and he took 2-16 from his 13 overs including the wicket of opener Henry Parker (24) as Drax progressed to 98-4 in the 32nd over. Craig Piggott increased the run rate and he hit 7 fours and a six before he was run out for 45 and Tilron Harry also scored quickly before Lee Wild (2-58) had him caught in the deep by Alex Bowden for 32. Selby looked to be in control as Drax were reduced to 158-7 but skipper Steve Smith (32) produced some big hitting and good knocks from tail enders Mian Ahmad (16), Billy Turford (14*) and Tom Longhurst (10*) lifted the home side to 228-9 at the close.

In reply Selby openers Matt Hoyle and Rob Peet made a solid start with an opening partnership of 36 but Billy Turford made the breakthrough when he bowled Peet (17). Mian Ahmad dismissed Hoyle (16) but Corey Paull and Jack Huddlestone then added 56 for the third wicket before Steve Smith trapped Huddlestone (28) leg before. In the 28th over Mian Ahmad took the vital wicket of Corey Paull (28) as Selby slipped to 111-4 but the innings then revolved around Kayden Lane who had good support from skipper Alex Bowden. A fifth wicket partnership of 77 set up a tight finish but it was ended by Craig Piggott when he bowled Bowden (37) in the 43rd over. The experienced Lee Wild (14*) joined Kayden Lane and they handled the pressure well to steer Selby home in the 48th over with Lane finishing unbeaten on a crucial 63. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Two Ebor

Hillam & Monk Fryston I 90 all out, Selby II 91-2

Selby second team returned to winning ways in Division Two with a comfortable eight wicket win against Hillam & Monk Fryston I at Sandhill Lane.

Batting first Hillam were soon losing wickets and they crashed to 48-7 with Luke Berzins (4-20) and Sam Dunn (3-28) doing the damage. There was some resistance from Nigel Croad (18), Damo Elliott (19) and Tom Hale (16) but spinner Alex Langhan (3-19) kept up the pressure as the visitors were bowled out for 90 in the 31st over.

Chasing the small total there was early shock when Will Vaks had Graham Phillips caught by Luke Frankland in the first over but Selby quickly recovered with a second wicket partnership of 67 between Harry Huddlestone and Iwan White. The partnership was ended by Mitch Whalley when he dismissed Iwan White (29) in the 8th over but Huddlestone continued to score quickly and he finished unbeaten on 53 as Selby raced to victory in only the 10th over. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Four Ebor

Hensall II 135-9, Selby III 137-2

Selby third team continued their revival in Division Four with an eight wicket win over Hensall II at Sandhill Lane.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first and they made slow but steady progress against some tidy bowling from Alfie Harper and an opening partnership of 25 was ended by Toby Settle when he bowled Chloe Thornton (17) in the 10th over. Opener Andrew Barker held the innings together but wickets fell at the other end with skipper Isaac Leung taking 4-41 and it was the spinner who eventually bowled Barker (52) in the 29th over. Darren Walker batted solidly for his 14 but Alfie Laverack (3-9) helped to restrict Hensall to 135-9 at the close.

In reply Selby openers Steve Sherwood and Isaac Leung added 46 for the first wicket before Sam Eldin trapped Sherwood (24) leg before and with no change to the total Leung (18) was bowled by Oliver Bristow. Alfie Harper (42*) and Alex Hornostaj (42*) then took control and they comfortably guided Selby home in the 25th over. Sunday Vale Division One

The fourth team returned to action on Sunday and they completed a good weekend for the club with a four wicket win at Dunnington III with Alex Kirk hitting an unbeaten century.

Batting first after winning the toss Dunnington were soon reduced to 46-4 with a four wicket blast from skipper Sam Easthill (4-47) putting Selby on top. The home side recovered thanks to James Patterson (32) and Ryan Dasari (32) but a good spell from Dan Catterall (3-36) slowed down the run rate. Will Magee (30) and Louie Perrin (23) hit late runs as the home side were bowled out for 178 in the 34th over.

In reply Selby made a great start with openers Alex Kirk and Alfie Harper putting on 88 for the first wicket before Roy Britton had Harper (26) caught by Sam Reed. Ryan Dasari then took 3-17 as wickets began to fall but Alex Kirk continued to bat well and a middle order collapse was stopped by James Stead (19) who added 45 for the fifth wicket with Kirk. The visitors reached the victory target in the 30th over with Alex Kirk finishing unbeaten on brilliant 101, which included 15 fours and 2 sixes.
