The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first and openers Martin Stables and John Fiorentini soon took the total to 23 but Jamie Middleton struck in the sixth over when he had Fiorentini superbly caught at slip by skipper Alex Bowden and in the same over he had Harry Snelling caught by Subhoda Premarathne to reduce Pocklington to 27-2. The early part of the Pocklington innings revolved around opener Martin Stables and he added exactly 50 for the third wicket with Cameron Mitchell (24) until he became another victim for Middleton (3-57). Stables continued to be a threat as he hit 9 fours and 2 sixes before spinner Subhoda Premarathne had him neatly caught by Tom Ellwood for 64. The Selby bowlers began to take control but there were decent knocks from Joel Taylor (34) and Dave Chaplin (21) who were both dismissed by Alex Bowden (3-17). Premarathne (4-43) kept up the pressure as the visitors were bowled out for 197 in the 43rd over.

In reply Selby openers Matt Hoyle and Alex Bowden were soon scoring quickly with the fifty partnership arriving in the 11th over. The visitors made a breakthrough in the 18th over with the total on 89 when Will Atkinson had Hoyle (39) caught behind by Joel Taylor. Corey Paull joined Bowden and they kept Selby in control with some stylish batting and they had few problems as the home side raced to victory in only the 32nd over. Pocklington II 252-8 all out Selby II 250-7

Selby second team travelled to Pocklington II on Saturday and were involved in a high scoring game but they went down to a narrow two run defeat.

Batting first after winning the toss Pocklington made a good start with an opening partnership of 75 between Ian Scott and Joe Wilson which was ended by Stan Bugg (3-47) when he had Wilson (18) caught behind by Harry Huddlestone. Ian Scott continued to bat powerfully until he was bowled by Alfie Harper for 86, which included 15 boundaries. Max Wilson (27), Matthew Smith (25*) and Lucas Tanikal (30) kept the runs flowing as the home side closed on 252-8 from their 45 overs.

Chasing the big total Selby lost opener Graham Phillips with the total on 39 but Harry Huddlestone and Joe Bugg both batted well in a second wicket partnership of 54. Lucas Tanikal made the breakthrough when he had Bugg (24) caught behind and Dan Croft bowled Harry Huddlestone for a rapid 56 to reduce the visitors to 97-3. Alfie Harper (36), Darrell Guy (19) and George Wells (40) kept up the run chase and Sam Dunn finished unbeaten on 44 as Selby finished just two runs short on 250-8 which did earn them four batting points. Burn II 207-7, Selby III 208-9

Selby third team were also involved in a high scoring game and they just squeezed home by one wicket against Burn II in a thrilling game at Sandhill Lane.

Batting first Burn lost an early wicket when Leigh Adamson was bowled by Toby Settle but Jonny Adamson and Luke Trevaskiss added 53 for the second wicket. Mark Redshaw (2-52) ended the partnership when he bowled Trevaskiss (26) but Adamson (16), Connor Elliott (12) and Dan Robinson (31) kept the scoreboard ticking over. The Selby bowlers had to work hard with Isaac Leung taking 2-52 and spinner Spencer Guy took 2-35. Tom Cobley hit 5 fours and a six in a brisk 39 and useful late runs were added by Nico Usher (14*) and Karthikeyan Subramani (15) as the visitors closed on a useful 207-7 from their 40 overs.

In reply Selby made a decent start with an opening partnership of 35 from Sam Mason and Isaac Leung but Subramani made the breakthrough when he had Leung (22) caught by Lucas Webster. Ben Jackson then had Mason (14) caught by Elliott Mawston and Alex Hornostaj (18) made a good start before Mawston had him caught by Nico Usher. Burn looked to be getting on top as the home side slipped to 71-5 but Selby recovered thanks to some big hitting from Scott Smith. James Thackray provided good support for Smith who fired 12 boundaries on his way to 63 and a seventh wicket partnership of 56 set up a tight finish. Burn looked to be back on top when Tom Cobley bowled Smith in the 31st over but Dylan Davies joined Thackray and they kept up the run chase with an eighth wicket partnership of 34. Dan Robinson increased the tension when he had Thackray (24) caught behind by Jonny Adamson and when Toby Settle was run out the game was in the balance with Selby on 191-9. Dylan Davies (36*) handled the pressure well as he took the home side nearer to the victory target and last man Mark Redshaw hit the winning runs in the 39th over in a tense finish. Sunday Vale Division One

Acomb III 216-4, Selby IV 219-2

Selby fourth ream ended their losing run in fine style on Sunday with an eight wicket win at Acomb III after they chased down a big total with George Wells hitting a superb century.

The York side batted first and they lost an early wicket when Alfie Laverack had Jack Bennett caught behind by James Stead in the first over. Acomb soon recovered as Lucas Crosby and Noah Nicholls got on top of the bowling to add 120 for the second wicket. Alfie Harper slowed down the run rate when he had Crosby (48) caught by George Wells and Noah Nicholls was eventually run out for 79. Finley Hunter hit quick 48 before he was run out as Acomb closed on 216-4.

Chasing the big total Selby openers Alfie Harper and George Wells both batted impressively from the start with the fifty partnership arriving in the 10th over and the century partnership in only the 15th over. The home side used eight different bowlers in an attempt to make a breakthrough and eventually James Housden ended a massive first wicket partnership of 181 when he had George Wells caught for a 109, which included 18 fours and a six. Housden did pick up another wicket but Alfie Harper stroked 15 boundaries in his unbeaten 85 as Selby knocked off the runs in the 33rd over. The win lifts Selby up to seventh in the table and they are at home to Carlton Towers III on Sunday.
