The game started well for Selby after being asked to bat first when openers Layton Hallam and Joe Bugg put on 54 for the first wicket. A change of bowling saw spinner Cam Hall trap Hallam (19) leg before and in the next over Harry Claxton had Joe Bugg (30) caught by Jack Spofforth. Claxton went on to take 3-18 including the vital wicket of Corey Paull (20) and Kayden Lane (14). Spinner Joe Brittain kept up the pressure with a spell of 3-28 as Dunnington began to take control but Harry Huddlestone worked hard to hold the innings together. The Selby tail failed to wag and Huddlestone was the last wicket to fall when Mat Beckett (2-13) had him caught by Joe Brittain for 34 as the visitors were bowled out for 156 in the 48th over.

Selby were in need of early wickets when Dunnington replied but openers Oliver Sherwood and Joe Brittain were soon scoring quickly with the fifty partnership arriving in the seventh over. The Selby bowlers and fielders had to work hard as the home side continued to score quickly with the century partnership arriving in just the 15th over. Luke Berzins did eventually end the partnership with the total on 149 when he dismissed Sherwood (42) leg before but Brittain (94*) ended proceedings with a big six in the 22nd over. Selby II 246-8, Fairburn II 220 all out

Selby second team ended their losing run in Division Two with a 26 run win over Fairburn II in a high scoring game at Sandhill Lane.

Batting first after winning the toss Selby were soon reduced to 24-2 with early wickets for Cameron Hughes (3-58) but the home side recovered well thanks to a third wicket partnership of 78 between skipper Graham Phillips and Alfie Harper. Simon Abdy made the breakthrough when had Phillips (43) caught by Ash Samuels but Harper kept Selby on top with some stylish batting. There was good support for Harper from Sam Mason (12) and Gareth Harvey (14) but as Harper neared his century Hughes had him caught by Jonathan Smales for 92, which included 10 boundaries. Useful late runs were added by Stan Bugg (30*) and Dan Catterall (17) and they enabled Selby to close on 246-8 from their 45 overs.

Fairburn made a good start to their reply with an opening partnership of 45 between Ali Solway and Jonathan Smales but Stan Bugg (3-58) removed both openers as the visitors slipped to 54-2. William Jones and Max Taylor continued the run chase with some powerful batting and they added 99 for the third wicket before Bugg struck again when he caught and bowled Taylor (59). Selby clawed their way back into the game when spinner Graham Phillips bowled Richard Colley and William Jones (58). Nathan Dye returned to the attack to bowl Simon Abdy (17) and he later had Rhys Weaver (14) caught in the deep by Phillips. Dan Catterall also grabbed a wicket and Alfie Harper took the last wicket as Fairburn were bowled out for 220 in the 37th over. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Four Ebor

Thorner Mexborough II 189 all out, Selby III 193-8

Selby third team were again involved in a tight finish in Division Four when they travelled to Thorner Mexborough II and picked up a two wicket win.

Batting first the home side made a decent start to their innings with an opening partnership of 33 between Shabir Ahmed (19) and Shazad Rafiq (18). Dylan Davies took the first wicket when he had Rafiq caught behind by Alex Hornostaj and Alfie Laverack then had Ahmed caught behind to reduce the Leeds side to 46-2. Darren Hunter kept things tight with a great spell of 1-19 from his ten overs but middle order runs from David Clark (35) and Shoaib Virk (30) saw the home side fight back. Good spells from Toby Settle (2-22) and Isaac Leung (3-49) reduced the home side to 125-7 but some late big hitting from Muhammed Nazim Ali (35) lifted Thorner to 189 all out in the 36th over.

There was a bad start to the Selby reply and early wickets saw them in trouble when they slipped to 28-3. Oliver Steward (16), Chris Harkin (34) and Ian Huddlestone (16) all worked hard to keep the visitors in the game but it was the big hitting Alfie Laverack who put Selby on top. Laverack blasted 4 fours and 5 sixes before Mehrban Ali had him caught for a whirlwind 55. There was still work to do and Selby were guided home by the experienced Darren Hunter (32*) and Rory Davies (6*) in the 38th over. Selby climb to seventh in the table and they make the short trip to Thorpe Willoughby I on Saturday.

The fourth team game on Sunday was conceded by Carlton Towers III and they return to action this Sunday when they travel to Clifton Alliance IV
