Yorkshire Premier League North Championship Central

Selby I 188 all out Clifton Alliance II 91 all out

Selby first team continued their winning run on Saturday with an 87 run win over Clifton Alliance II at Sandhill Lane.

Skipper Alex Bowden again won the toss and decided to bat first but they made a bad start with openers Jack Huddlestone and Alex Bowden both dismissed in the first four overs leaving them on 12-2. Aussie Corey Paull attacked the bowling from the start and he fired 5 fours and a six before he was bowled by Harry Watkinson for 31. Adam Cockrill (4-54) bowled well for the York side as Selby were reduced to 58-4 and 72-5, but the experienced Darrell Guy staged a recovery with good support from Kayden Lane. Guy was eventually dismissed by Xaviar Lardner when he was caught by Jake Atkinson for 34 but Lane continued the recovery with some stylish batting, Runs came at the other end from Subhoda Premarathne (18) and Tom Shepherd (22) but Kayden Lane was eventually bowled by Cockrill for a vital 44 as Selby were bowled out for 188 in the 44th over.

In reply Clifton had to work hard against tight bowling from Jamie Middleton and Tom Shepherd and they lost an early wicket when Middleton had Andrew Simpson caught by Harry Huddlestone. Jake Atkinson and Sid Corley steadily added 34 for the second wicket before Middleton struck again when he had Atkinson (19) caught by Premarathne. The York side were in a decent position as they progressed to 64-2 but Middleton (3-42) had the dangerous Corley (22) caught by Bowden which sparked a collapse. Left arm spinner Premarathne quickly removed the middle order and there was a couple of wickets for Stan Bugg as the visitors slumped to 91 all out in the 30th over with Premarathne finishing with the impressive figures of 5-35. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Two Ebor

Selby II 208-7, Sherburn Eversley I 93 all out

Selby second team registered their first win of the season in Division Two with a 115 run win at Sherburn.

Selby skipper Graham Phillips won the toss and elected to bat first and they made a good start with an opening partnership of 37 from Phillips and Sam Dunn before Sammy Wainwright had Phillips (13) caught by Will Martin. Dunn and Alfie Harper added 27 for the second wicket before Dunn (38) was bowled by Wainwright (4-52) but Gareth Pearce kept the runs flowing. Pearce hit 6 fours and a six in his rapid 48 and more powerful batting came from Sam Mason (37), Mike Lane (21), Rhys Roddick (18*) and Gareth Harvey (10*) as the visitors closed on a useful 208-7.

An early three wicket blast from Rhys Roddick (3-9) soon had the home side in trouble when they replied and they were quickly reduced to 25-3. Sherburn skipper Jai Mistry (31*) was holding the innings together but he had to retire as Selby began to take control. There was a wicket for spinner Alex Langhan but a devastating spell from Nathan Dye (5-27) saw the home side bowled out for 93 in the 30th over. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Four Ebor

Scarcroft II 216-5, Selby III 219-7

The third team returned to winning ways in Division Four with a three wicket win against Scarcroft II at Sandhill Lane in a high scoring game.

Batting first the visitors batted steadily from the start with all their batsmen making healthy contributions but a tight spell from Martyn Rhodes (1-12) kept the run rate down. Skipper Isaac Leung took a couple of wickets but runs from Aarnav Pallapothu (55*) and Aaryan Ganesh (32*) helped Scarcroft to reach 216-5 at the close.

Chasing the big total Alfie Laverack was soon scoring quickly and he smashed 7 fours and a six in his brisk 35. Scott Smith hit a quick 15 but when Martyn Rhodes (10) was bowled by Pallapothu (4-38) the home side were reduced to 136-7. Alex Hornostaj and Darren Hunter turned the game round with some impressive batting in deteriorating conditions. Hornostaj (61*) and Hunter (49*) added 83 for the eighth wicket to steer Selby home in the 36th over. Sunday Vale Division One

Heworth IV 134 all out, Selby IV 135-5

Selby fourth team travelled to Heworth IV on Sunday and they picked up a comfortable five wicket win to complete a successful weekend for the club.

The York side batted first and they lost early wickets to Alfie Laverack (3-6) and Toby Settle (3-30) and they crashed to 48-7 and an early finish loomed. Heworth fought back with Chris Neal (44*) and Dean Smallwood (22) adding 78 for the eighth wicket but wickets for Spencer Guy and Alfie Harper saw the home side bowled out for 134 in the 30th over.

In reply Selby lost an early wicket but the innings then revolved around opener Alfie Harper who had good support from Alex Hornostaj (15), Sam Easthill (13) and Bilal Irshad (11). Harper stroked 9 boundaries in his unbeaten 67 as Selby reached the victory target in the 25th over.
