Skipper Alex Bowden won the toss and asked the home side to bat first and they made a steady start against some tight bowling with Archie Welford and Dan Hardey putting on 48 for the first wicket. Jamie Middleton (2-36) made the breakthrough when he caught and bowled Hardey (22) and then had Max Harland caught at slip by Alex Bowden the 15th over. Lee Wild struck in the next over when he trapped Welford leg before to reduce Pickering to 49-3. The innings was then held together by Andrew Sharman but wickets fell at the other end with Wild going on to take 4-37 from his 13 over spell. Two wickets from Subhoda Premarathne (2-53) kept up the pressure as the home side struggled to 124-8 in the 37th over but Tom Croot joined Sharman and they turned the game round with some powerful batting. Croot hammered 3 fours and 3 big sixes and gave good support to Sharman in a ninth wicket partnership of 94. Jack Huddlestone ended the partnership when he bowled Croot (39) in the 49th over and Sharman was bowled by Tom Shepherd in the last over for exactly 100 and they enabled the home side to reach a useful 223 all out.

In reply Selby lost an early wicket when Kieran Bowes bowled Matt Hoyle in the fifth over but Layton Hallam and Corey Paull took the total to 52 before Bowes struck again when he had Paull (11) caught behind by Max Harland. Bowes (3-28) then had Hallam (24) caught by Hardey as Pickering began to get on top. With Selby struggling on 62-4 Jack Huddlestone and Alex Bowden steadied things with a fifth wicket partnership of 43 but spinner Joe Harland (3-54) had Huddlestone (32) caught behind and shortly after Dan Hardey (3-42) bowled Bowden (20) to reduce the visitors to 117-6. There was some late big hitting from Lee Wild (28) but the visitors slipped to 156 all out in the 42nd over. Selby II 280-8, Wheldrake I 231-8

Selby second team made it three wins in a row in Division Two with a 49 run win over Wheldrake in a high scoring game at Sandhill Lane.

Skipper Darrell Guy won the toss and elected to bat first on another good looking track and they made a great start with an opening partnership of 87 between Graham Phillips and Rob Scarr. Umar Farooq dismissed Scarr (41) and Phillips went on to hit 11 fours and a six before Sathiyaseelan had him caught by Carter for 64. Joe Bugg (15), Gareth Pearce (11) and Sam Dunn (19) all kept the scoreboard ticking over but Steve Beales bowled well to take 4-48 to keep the run rate down as the home side progressed to 179-8 in the 34th over. George Wells and Scott Smith then took charge and they both batted powerfully and they added a remarkable 101 for the ninth wicket with Wells hitting 4 fours and a six in his unbeaten 52 and Smith blasted 7 fours and 2 huge sixes in his unbeaten 58 and they took Selby to a massive 280-8 at the close.

Chasing the big total Wheldrake lost an early wicket when Stan Bugg bowled Sankara Dhakshinamurthy in the fourth over but Jez Petty and Anthony Carter then put on 110 for the second wicket. Joe Bugg ended the partnership when he bowled Carter (52) but Petty continued to bat solidly. A tight spell from Sam Dunn (2-15) kept the run rate down and three wickets for spinner Graham Phillips (3-39) ensured the visitors never really threatened to overhaul the big total. Yorkshire Premier League North Division Four Ebor

Drax II 209-3, Selby III 166 all out

Selby third team played league leaders Drax II at Sandhill Lane on Saturday and it was the visitors who picked up a 43 run win.

Skipper Isaac Leung won the toss and asked Drax to bat first and they batted solidly from the start with Luke Edwards and Toby Bodycombe putting on 61 for the first wicket before Darren Hunter had Edwards (30) caught by Alex Hornostaj. The same combination removed Bodycombe (33) but the innings then revolved around skipper Ben Worley who had good support from Harry Longhurst (18) and Kevin Thomas (21*). The Selby bowlers and fielders had to work hard as Worley hit 16 fours and a six in his unbeaten 96 as Drax closed on 209-3 from their 40 overs.

In reply Selby also made a decent start with an opening partnership of 51 between Steve Sherwood and Isaac Leung which was ended by Jack Derham when he caught and bowled Sherwood for a rapid 37. Isaac Leung (17) was then dismissed by Michael Fell which left the inning to be dominated by Alex Hornostaj but wickets fell at the other end with Matthew Atkinson (3-39) and Michael Fell (3-34) keeping the visitors on top. Iain Stamper (13), Darren Hunter (13) and Spencer Guy (10) all gave Hornostaj good support who was eventually the last man dismissed for a solid 55 as Selby were bowled out for 166 in the 40th over. Selby IV 188 all out, Pickering III 193-5

Selby fourth team made the long trip to Pickering on Sunday but they went down to a five wicket defeat despite a good batting performance.

Batting first after winning the toss all the early batsmen did well with useful knocks from James Dugher (31), Alex Langhan (10) and Alex Hornostaj (31). Skipper Sam Easthill fired six fours and three sixes before Jack Dobson (5-33) had him caught for 49 and there were useful contributions from Dylan Parkes (14) and Toby Settle (12) as the visitors were bowled out for 188 in the last of their 40 overs.

In reply Pickering lost a wicket with the total on 24 when Alfie Laverack had Sam Hancock (14) caught by John Plews but a second wicket partnership of 97 between Keith Barber and Harvey Wood put the home side on top. James Dugher (2-27) joined the attack to remove Barber (48) and Wood (46) and Toby Settle also picked up a wicket but Matty Cooper (23) and Jack Dobson (21*) steered Pickering home in the 35th over. Selby are at home to South Milford III on Sunday.
