Heworth I 300-8, Selby I 118
Selby first team’s winning run came to an end on Bank Holiday Monday when they lost by 182 runs against a powerful Heworth side at Sandhill Lane.
Skipper Alex Bowden won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first and they made a quick start with openers Max Mikhail and George Carlton putting on 53 for the first wicket. Pace bowler Luyanda Gasa made the breakthrough when he had Mikhail (32) caught by Alex Bowden. Selby fought back when Aussie Harry Hauenstein was run out and shortly after Tom Shepherd bowled Sam Lingard to reduce the York side to 70-3, George Carlton held the early part of the innings together and he added 77 for the fourth wicket with Jack Wilkinson before Carlton was run out for 67. Lee Wild had Wilkinson caught for 31 and Dan Walton became another run out victim to leave Heworth on 175-6 but the big hitting Rich Walton then took charge. The Selby bowlers took some punishment as Walton peppered the boundary with some devastating batting, and he went on to hit 3 fours and 10 huge sixes before he was bowled by Tom Shepherd in the last over for 96. Chris Barrett (22) and Alex Rennie (12*) provided good support for Walton as Heworth closed on a massive 300-8 from their 50 overs.
Chasing the big total Selby openers Matt Hoyle and Alex Bowden made a lively start but with the score on 30 Will Etty had Bowden caught by Wilkinson for 23. Rob Scarr joined Hoyle and they added 34 for the second wicket before the pacey Alex Bell bowled Hoyle (12). Rob Scarr (24) kept the scoreboard ticking over but after Bell had him caught behind runs seemed hard to come by with wickets falling at regular intervals. Alex Bell (5-23) removed the middle order and only some late big hitting from Darrell Guy (28*) lifted Selby to 118 all out in the 33rd over. Selby travel to Sessay II on Saturday.

Selby second team made the short trip to Carlton Towers II on Monday and went down to a six wicket defeat.

Stephenson (2-37) struck again to bowl James Thackery (11) and despite good knocks from Luke Berzins (22), Oliver Steward (25) and Michael Lane (24) Carlton remained on top with tight spells from Jack Huddlestone (2-19) and Sam Pocklington (2-15). Jake Dawson finished with 4-17 as the visitors were bowled out for 106 in the 36th over.
Defending the small total Selby did take a couple of early wickets with Luke Berzins dismissing Ben Copeland and Caspar Gray bowling Jake Dawson (10). Jack Huddlestone and Marcus Thandi got the Carlton innings back on track with a third wicket partnership of 37 before Kayden Lane had Thandi caught for 16. Lane (2-26) grabbed another wicket but Huddlestone (54*) steered the home side to a comfortable victory in the 22nd over. Selby are at home on Saturday when Castleford II are the visitors to Sandhill Lane.

A young Selby third team travelled to Scholes II on Monday and produced a brave performance but they went down to a 30 run defeat after being set a big total to chase.
