Selby Cricket Club U15 vs South Kirkby Tuesday, 7th May by Richard Singh

In an exciting start to the season, Selby Cricket Club U15 demonstrated strong skills and team spirit in their win over South Kirkby. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Selby compiled a respectable 115 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs, spearheaded by opener Alfie Harper and boosted by the middle-order efforts of Iwan White and Dylan Singh. South Kirkby, though restricted to 38 runs for 7 wickets, showed grit and potential, especially in their bowling efforts which included disciplined spells from George Senior and Brajan Weber.

Senitha Ruhunuge (on his debut) and George Wells set an impressive tone early in the game, tightening the screws in the initial overs.
Evie Spence showcased her skill with a spectacular caught and bowled, taking two quick wickets that stifled any building momentum from the opposition.
Stan Bugg clinched two important late wickets, the first after a exceptional catch by wicket keeper Dylan Davies ensuring the team maintained its advantage.

Both teams displayed commendable performances, with Selby's well-rounded approach leading to a victory. South Kirkby's bowlers, particularly George Senior and Brajan Weber, showed promise and resilience against Selby's strong batting lineup. This match was a good learning experience and displayed potential growth areas for both teams as they progress through the season.

Next up for Selby U15’s is a home fixture against Fishlake CC starting at 18.00 on Monday 13th May.
