It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of Stephen Ward our much-loved Club President yesterday evening 30th September 2023.

Steve loved his sports and has been part of the lifeblood of Selby Cricket Club for many years, as a player, volunteer, committee member, active club fund-raiser, a generous donor and a wonderful Club President.

He will be missed by many and leaves behind great memories and friendships. We will miss seeing him in his usual seat in Tegs Tavern supporting both the junior and senior teams.

Peter and Hazel Rickaby paid tribute to Steve saying “we send our deepest condolences having known Steve since we joined the club in the early 60’s. Having played cricket together, spectated and debated cricket on many occasions and shared many a drink together, we will greatly miss our dear friend.”

Steve was a true gentleman and club legend, we will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
