Selby I 235-8 Dunnington 135-3
Selby first team produced another good batting performance on Saturday with Alex Bowden registering his first century of the season but they went down to a seven wicket defeat to Dunnington in a rain affected game at Sandhill Lane.
Skipper Alex Bowden won the toss and elected to bat first on a good looking track and they made a solid start with an opening partnership of 38 from Bowden and Matt Hoyle. Spinner Adam Iyer made the breakthrough when he bowled Hoyle (12) in the eighth over. Rob Scarr joined Bowden at the crease and they took the score to 57 before Irosh Samarasooriya had Scarr (11) caught behind by Dan Barrett. Selby began to get on top when Bowden and Harry Huddlestone both punished any loose bowling and they added 107 for the third wicket. James Crichton ended the partnership when he bowled Huddlestone (43) but Bowden kept the runs flowing with good support from Layton Hallam (10) and Darrell Guy (13). Alex Bowden fired 9 fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten 116 as the home side closed on 235-8 from their 50 overs.
In reply Dunnington had to work hard for their runs against some tight bowling and they lost an early wicket when Tom Shepherd bowled Oliver Sherwood in the fourth over. Two wickets for pace bowler Luyand Gasa saw the visitors reduced to 56-3 but Sri Lankan Irosh Samarasooriya began to bat powerfully. There was good support for Samarasooriya from Jack Bolam and they gradually increased the run rate with bad weather loomimg. The rain eventually arrived after 26 overs which brought the Duckworth Lewis system into operation and Dunnington were ahead after reaching 135-3 with Samarasooriya unbeaten on 70 and Bolam unbeaten on 37. Despite attempts to re-start the game no further play was possible which meant Dunnington won by seven wickets. Thanks go to match ball sponsor Streamline Taxis and Selby travel to Osbaldwick on Saturday.

Yorkshire Premier League North Division Four (Ebor)
Selby III 116, Drax II 118-0
Selby third team had a tough afternoon at Drax where they went down to a ten wicket defeat.
The visitors were asked to bat first after losing the toss and the father and son opening partnership of Mike and James Thackray gave them a reasonable start but after James was dismissed by Ethan Umbo wickets fell at regular intervals. Mike Thackray (29) did hold the early part of the innings together and Scott Smith hit a quick 18 but wickets for Paul Vickers (2-14) and Ben Worley (3-8) kept the home side in control. Steve Sherwood hit a defiant 28 but Selby were bowled out for 116 in the 33rd over.
Drax were soon scoring quickly when they replied with Toby Bodycombe dominating the opening partnership. The Selby bowlers were unable to make a breakthrough as Bodycombe hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his rapid unbeaten 81 and Luke Edwards finished unbeaten on 29 as the home side raced to victory in only the 13th over.
