Selby first team continued their good run with a 72 run win over bottom of the table Castleford II at Sandhill Lane.

Skipper Matt Hoyle won the toss and elected to bat first on a good looking track and they made a solid start with Hoyle and Lee Wild putting on 34 for the first wicket before Wild (16) was bowled by George Gibson. Alex Bowden joined Hoyle and they put on 40 for the second wicket but Martin Gibson joined the attack and he had Bowden caught by Luke Edwards for 21. Hoyle held the early part of the innings together and there was good support from Sam Mason (13) but Gibson took 3-29 to keep the visitors in the game. Luke Edwards eventually trapped Hoyle leg before for a stylish 60 but Selby were left on 142-7 in the 32nd over. Darrell Guy (30) and Alex Langhan (24) both batted well and they added a valuable 50 runs for the eighth wicket. George Gibson finished with 4-33 as Selby were bowled out in the last over for 204.

The West Yorkshire side made a reasonable start but Luke Berzins made the breakthrough with the total on 21 when he bowled Aaron Grant for 8. Berzins removed the other opener Luke Edwards when he had him caught behind by Darrell Guy for a fluent 28. Alex Dillon and Gopi Chemudupati then provided some serious resistance in a third wicket partnership of 33 which was ended by Lee Wild when he bowled Dillon (27). Wild produced a great spell of 6-19 from his twelve overs and he kept up the pressure as he worked his way through the middle order and then grabbed the vital wicket of Chemudupati (25) thanks to another good catch from Guy. The ten man Castleford side battled hard and almost secured a draw but in the 44th over Luke Berzins (3-19) had Ryan Pearson caught at slip by Matt Hoyle to earn Selby another 30 points which keeps them in third place.
