Selby second team returned to winning ways in Division Four when a good all round team performance earned them an 82 run win over Woodhouse Grange IV at Sandhill Lane.

Batting first after winning the toss Selby made a great start with Graham Phillips and Oliver Steward putting on 67 for the first wicket. Pete Edmondson made the breakthrough when he had Phillips caught for a brisk 40 but Mike Lane and Steward kept the home side on top with a second wicket partnership of 43. Lane was eventually run out for a fluent 29 and the in form Chris Harkin joined Steward to keep the runs flowing. Freddie Bowers (2-49) returned to the attack to bowl Harkin for 35 and skipper Paul Grewer slowed down the run rate with a tidy spell of 1-12 from his six overs. Selby closed on a useful 189-5 with Steward finishing unbeaten on a solid 60.

In reply the visitors lost two early wickets when Mike Lane had Paul Grewer (11) caught by Harry Huddlestone and Kayden Lane had Ewan Miller caught behind to leave them on 12-2. Woodhouse recovered well with Archie Hobson (27) and Feddie Bowers (25) putting on 53 for the third wicket before Mark Redshaw (3-38) had Bowers caught by Oliver Steward. The spin of Graham Phillips then had Hobson caught by Steward as Selby took control of the game. Arlo Miller (22) provided some solid resistance but Phillips finished with 4-21 as the ten man Woodhouse side were bowled out in the 37th over for 107. Selby are at home to Saxton II on Saturday.
